I sign up to a lot of media events and this week headed to the Museum of London to hear about the New Era of Pride in Journalism.
The UK media has taken a beating in recent years with a series of scandals – it’s not surprising that the public are losing faith in our journalists. Examples highlighted include the BBC’s blindness with Jimmy Saville’s crimes and the terrible series of secrets revealed with the Levenson enquiry.
On Tuesday 1st March journalist Kevin Maguire stressed now – more than ever – the media must continue to do its duty and tell the truth to the people.
Referring to budding journalists as ‘digital natives’ Kevin Maguire offered encouragement to those embarking on a career in the media. He believes they have the tools and the talent to adapt and to build a New Era of Pride in Journalism “with ink in our veins pumped by a beating digital heart”.
