Life Drawing

Life drawing sends the voyeur into a type of trance. When focusing on the human form we forget we’re squinting at a fellow being and shapes soon turn from ‘still life’ into what the French call ‘nature morte.’ Throughout history, life drawing has formed the basis of many masterpieces – from Picasso to Schiele to Emin – with the stripped back skeletal form as the ultimate blank canvas to build upon.

My favourite life drawing classes are those led by artist and teacher Adrian Dutton in North/East London. You can see photos of my own (amateur) sketches on my Instagram.
